Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky

Chorus, Eugene Onegin at West Green House Opera

‘This is Tchaikovsky’s best loved opera, a journey from what could have been to what might have been. We meet a young Tatyana quietly living in the country, till the dashing Onegin arrives coldly rejecting her young love. Years later a sad and depressed Onegin re meets a married Tatyana, now part of the Russian Imperial Court, who rejects him. This opera’s beautiful music, much based on Russian folk melodies and its enchanting dance scenes, is a work we have long wished to stage at West Green House.’ From the West Green House Opera website.
