Soprano Rebecca Milford graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Artist Master Programme with Distinction under the tutelage of John Evans, generously supported by the Sheila White Scholarship. Since then, she has enjoyed varied and exciting projects, from opera to concert to outreach.
Most recently, she debuted the role of ‘Pamina’ (The Magic Flute) on tour with The Merry Opera Company in early 2024, and is thrilled to be continuing her 2024 opera season with the role of ‘Una Conversa’ (Suor Angelica) at West Green House Opera and a role debut of ‘Gretel’ (Hänsel und Gretel) with Opera Kipling at Camden Fringe.
Some previous opera credits include the title role of ‘Cinderella’ in a new production (Cinderella ‘23) written and directed by John Ramster for The Merry Opera Company, cover ‘Gianetta’ and Ensemble (The Elixir of Love) on tour with Wild Arts as a 2023 Young Artist, ‘Frasquita’ (Carmen) with Opera Brava, ‘Head Hen’ and cover ‘Vixen’ (Cunning Little Vixen) with Hampstead Garden Opera and cover ‘Anne Page’ (Sir John in Love) with British Youth Opera at Opera Holland Park.
As a recitalist, Rebecca is the recipient of the Anne Wyburd Prize for German Lied, won with pianist Florent Mourier. She has performed in a variety of recital projects and performances, including being the Youth Music Ambassador for her hometown in the Cuckfield Music Festival, creating and setting up concerts for young, up-and-coming musicians.
Alongside her performing career, Rebecca is an experienced opera outreach practitioner and director, creating programmes and shows for young people and communities to become passionate about opera and theatre. She is Creative Education Producer and Music Director for Brolly Production’s Roma opera ‘The Stopping Place’, is Education Manager for Wild Arts and works as a Vocal Programming and Creative Leader for Newham Music creating exciting vocal and theatre projects.
